The Geeky Boys is a group of dedicated professionals with vast experience in web design and online marketing. Though we share a common passion for technology and innovation, our talents run the spectrum of ultimate geekchic: computer programming, design, copywriting, marketing, business development and public relations.
More About the founders
Lauri and Patrick are not your typical web designers. Both of them are serial entrepreneurs with a passion for business and an innate desire to make businesses grow. From very different backgrounds, the two founders came together to form a very unique partnership. A web design and online marketing company that shares in the enthusiasm of its clients for making their companies grow. Likes kids in a candy store – each new project brings them both a surge of energy and an excitement that is impossible to explain.
Patrick, who is originally from Belgium, has always had a love of computers and anything related to technology. His interest in cool gadgets and new software led him to discover day trading which is where he landed and pretty much stayed for most of his professional career.
Upon moving to the US in 1997, Patrick continued analyzing companies for his day trading operations and had a very successful business in this highly volatile industry. It was the analysis of these organizations that gave Patrick a feel for what gave certain companies an edge over others, and how technology contributed to their success.
Lauri’s first business enterprises were typical, lemonade stands, magazine and cookie sales – but unlike most kids, she didn’t get bored once the last customer was gone. That was when the planning and strategizing for the next push started – and that is where her passion for marketing and operations was born.
From her first jobs as supervisor of this… and manager of that… she got a taste for organizing things and analyzing what worked and what didn’t. Early on she was drawn to manufacturing in an operations capacity and eventually worked her way up the ladder to Vice President of Operations for a variety of companies.
Lauri has owned several businesses – from a gift basket assembly company to a frozen food manufacturing company and most recently an event planning company. In 2005, Lauri completed her MBA at Pepperdine and started consulting with small businesses. It is here where she realized that most small businesses lacked a credible and professional online presence and she started researching companies that could provide her clients with what they needed.
About this same time, Lauri and Patrick met and started talking about what they were each working on. That is when the idea for The Geeky Boys was born –a company that would work with small businesses to give them an affordable online presence and almost act as a partner when it came to the technical and marketing aspects of growing their business.
Many of the business owners that The Geeky Boys works with have a passion for their specific industry or service, but lack the general business and marketing skills necessary to make a success of it. An even greater number of Geeky clients have a fear technology, but they understand that they need to embrace it in order to succeed in today’s marketplace. This is where The Geeky Boys is different from your typical website developer who will produce a website for you – but with no thought given to what will work from a marketing standpoint or what type of design will appeal to your target market. The Geeky Boys was founded by two entrepreneurs that understand both business and the web and have a passion for putting these two skills together and helping other like minded entrepreneurs grow their businesses.
